Things To Do
Most people come to this region of France to visit the famous champagne houses and taste some of the fabulous champagne produced here by the likes of Moet in Epernay and Tattinger and Pommery in Reims.
You can follow the 'route touristique' which leads you through some lovely villages where you can visit both the well known houses and also small producers. There are vineyards where you can hire bikes and be taken on a cycling tour, and producers whose cellars are accessible only by abseiling.
The Reims is not just the 'home' of champagne, it is a lovely city to wander through with some very good restaurants, from the Art Deco inspirerd Cafe du Palais to the elegant Les Crayères. Epernay, much smaller but very pretty, is also worth visiting, with its beautiful Avenue du Champagne. Both are about half an hours drive from us. The old town of Troyes is about 45 minutes drive south, where the champagne producing region continues, and is also a lovely place to wander through. It has the added attraction (depending on your point of view!!) of a large designer 'outlet centre'.
There is a magnificent 18 hole golf course close by at Chalons en Champagne called La Grande Romanie. There is also a tennis court in the village which guests of the Chateau can use free of charge, and horse riding close by.

We have a well stocked private lake where you are welcome to spend your days attempting to catch our huge carp - and return him to his home after photos of course! It is lovely for a dip in the summer, and there is a small beach beside it for a spot of sunbathing. Paris is one hour by TGV from Chalons en Champagne station, perfect for a day trip, as is Euro Disney.
The Chateau is also a lovely place for friends and family to holiday together for Christmas and New Year. There are lots of open fireplaces to relax in front of, we have a billiard table for the more energetic, and of course lovely grounds to wander through for the extreme sport enthusiasts! There is a lovely grand piano in the entrée which sounds fabulous throughout the Chateau, we encourage our guests to play, along with any other instruments they wish to bring. There is a light aircraft and glider field in Ecury sur Coole, a village close to us, where you can be taken for short flights or up in a glider, weather permitting.
